TV Premieres in October

October

October saw several series premieres across network and streaming. It’s a great time to get into a new show or pick up where it left us as the weather cools down.

AppleTV+

On Apple TV, the hit show Shrinking returns for Season 2. Jason Segel is back in this feel-good show about a widowed husband as he’s turned a corner in handling his grief. From the creator of Ted Lasso and Scrubs, Jason alongside Jessica Williams and Harrison Ford make this a definite recommend.

Also on Apple is Disclaimer with Cate Blanchett. This miniseries from Alfonso Cuarón, adapted from the book of the same name, is about a journalist who’s dark secrets are revealed in a novel by an unknown author. Mixed reviews, but overall positive, it currently has a 78% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Max

On Max, a satirical comedy about the superhero movie industry has emerged in The Franchise. A funny and possibly/probably accurate view into the production of films. Starring Himesh Patel, Aya Cash, Billy Magnussen, and Daniel Brühl, they are all delivering on this very dry humored show.

And if you haven’t seen it yet, The Penguin is highly recommended. Premiering in September on Max, Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti are crushing it as two competing villains trying to make a name for themselves, exact vengeance, and take over Gotham.

Paramount+

Zoe Saldaña’s Special Ops Lioness premiered October 27th for Season 2. Created by Taylor Sheridan of Sicario and Yellowstone, Zoe is tasked with recruiting a new Lioness and taking out a new baddie in this gripping show. A bit of drama and politics mixes into lots of action.

For a much lighter watch, Star Trek Lower Decks premiered in its final season of the animated comedy on Paramount. Following the hijinks of the officers not sitting in the Captain’s chair or even on the bridge, just yet, it’s a fun watch to just relax.

See you in November
